Nancy Herron is a co-founder of TCiN and a board member of both the Children and Nature Network and Texas Children in Nature Network. Nancy retired after 23 years at Texas Parks and Wildlife and serving as their Outreach and Education Director. Her work background includes starting several nonprofits, working with Hospice, children with disabilities, teaching, and journalism. She has worked extensively with volunteers and as a volunteer in many capacities. Nancy is the recipient of multiple awards for leadership and education innovation. Nancy and her husband are long-time outdoor enthusiasts, and met in high school, helping organize their community's first recycling center and participation in the first Earth Day in 1970.
